When did you last check Postmaster Tools? ๐Ÿ“Š

Some of it has changed since you last looked ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌
WP Mail SMTP

Hey there,

I had to ask my 15-year-old how to do something on my phone again last week. I can't even remember what it was now but she did it without looking, handed the phone back, and gave me the specific face teenagers reserve for parents who've just confirmed they're officially old.

Everything I use has done this to me. Facebook moves its settings around every six months. Instagram rearranges itself every time I open it. Even my banking app had a glow-up last month and now I can't find the button to pay someone.

Postmaster Tools had its own little facelift fairly recently. If you’ve never heard of Postmaster Tools, it's a free Google dashboard that shows you how Gmail sees the emails coming from your domain including spam complaint rates, and whether your emails are being delivered or bounced. If your WordPress site sends a lot of emails to users with Gmail addresses (newsletters, WooCommerce receipts, form notifications, password resets), it's worth having set up.

Domain Reputation and IP Reputation (those big color-coded High/Medium/Low/Bad panels if you remember them) are gone. Google replaced them with a pass/fail Compliance Status dashboard. It checks whether you meet each one of Gmail's bulk sender rules including authentication, spam rate, one-click unsubscribe, and encryption with a simple “Compliant” or “Needs work” status.

This is a reflection of Google’s updated bulk sender rules that were introduced last year. The old reputation scores were vague but compliance isn't. Google is clear that you need to be hitting each rule and there’s no gray area.

And the important part for anyone who sends email: Non-compliant bulk email doesn't even get filtered into spam anymore but will be straight out rejected with a 550 error and bounced back to the sender.

So if something's showing as Needs work in your Compliance Status dashboard, it’s a red flag that your emails might not be hitting the inbox.

I updated our Postmaster Tools guide this week with the new interface and what to do when something's flagged.

๐Ÿ‘‰ How to set up Google Postmaster Tools (2026)

If you already use Postmaster Tools, go and log in and check out the new dashboards. If anything’s showing as Needs work, that's where to start. If you've never set it up, the guide walks you through everything in about 10 minutes and it's free.

P.S. If a 15-year-old needs to walk you through where the Compliance Status dashboard is, no judgement. We've all been there.
